Pompeii, the first stop of the shore excursion from Salerno

The archaeological site of Pompeii will give you one of the most beautiful moments of your holiday in Italy. It's a unique site because nowhere else in the world will you find an ancient city twenty centuries old and so perfectly preserved. In Pompeii, the visit lasts approximately 2 - 2 1/2 hours and we strongly advise you visit it with an authorised guide of the Campania region, which will be recommended by our driver, that will literally help you experience the everyday life of the ancient city telling you about the traditions and the period costumes and showing you the most important archaeological discovery of buildings unearthed during years of excavations.

Villa dei Misteri, whose walls are painted using the Pompeian red, the Lupanare, the ancient brothel of the town, the ‘taberne’, restaurants of that time and the Foro, the heart of Pompeii are amongst the most famous attractions.

Herculaneum – the second stop of the shore excursion

After Pompeii, the shore excursion from Salerno continues to the excavations of Herculaneum which was also destroyed by the eruption of Vesuvius in 79AD along with Pompeii and Oplontis but less famous than the first.

Also in Herculaneum, we will visit the archaeological excavations with an authorised guide and admire the typical buildings unearthed during the excavations which began in 1738: the Casa del Genio, the Casa dello scheletro and the most famous Casa del Gratiuccio. The road from Herculaneum also leads to the Gran Cono del Vesuvio where you can visit the crater and it is the road that our driver will follow to arrive at the entrance of the Vesuvius National Park.

We will get to the top of the volcano, symbol of Naples, through a scenic drive from where you can admire a fantastic view of the city and its suburbs.    

Vesuvius – the third stop of our tour from Salerno

When you have reached the top of the volcano, you can buy your entrance ticket to the Park and stroll through the 11 paths with a total length of 54 kms walk, and go up path number 5, the one that will take you to the ‘Gran Cono’ of the still active volcano. The views from this trail will give you a fantastic experience. To walk the path, you must be accompanied by an Alpine and Volcano guide from the Campania region. The climb continues with a quiet walk for about 800 metres and is rewarded by a panoramic and scenic view along the various bends.  
After visiting these wonderful places, our driver will take you back because the shore excursion at Pompeii , Herculaneum and Vesuvius  ends at the port of Salerno in perfect time to board your ship.
