The eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79AD, one of the most terrible eruptions of this still active volcano, buried the city and all its inhabitants under a thick blanket of ash and lava. Everything was destroyed in a few hours. This catastrophic event is recorded in every corner of the site where each year artefacts, that take us back to the glories of that era, are found.

The visit to the excavations lasts about 2 - 2 1/2 hours and ends with the return to the port of Naples.
