Duration: 5 hours approximately
After a quick drive in a comfortable, fully equipped Mercedes car, we will reach the first stop on our excursion on the Amalfi Coast: Positano. The fantastic town of Positano, now famous throughout the world and visited by VIPs and celebrities, was a small fishing village in the 1950s and is perched on a clifftop. Residents have dug into the rocks, making space for houses and stairways that cross them, alongside small shops and restaurants but years ago they used mules to carry all kinds of materials. You will have free time in Positano for a visit to the Cathedral and the great beach and to buy fashionable linen clothes, the famous ‘Positano beach fashion’ and handmade leather sandals.
After having left Positano, we will arrive in Amalfi without forgetting to stop at some halfway landmarks: Praiano, near Positano, a town with spectacular views and suitable for a holiday away from the noise of the rowdy nearby towns; the Fiordo di Furore, a genuine fjord in the rock, where films and photoshoots are taken and the magical Grotta dello Smeraldo, Conca dei Marini, the symbol of the Amalfi coast. In Amalfi, there will be time for a visit to the Cathedral of Saint Andrew and to taste the typical local products: limoncello, lemon ice cream, and the renowned local desserts like Delizia al limone, all made with a special ingredient, the fruit that smells and colours the hills of the Amalfi coast, the lemon.
The Amalfi coast excursion from the port of Salerno, along this stunning coastline of 40 kms, plans Ravello as our last stop just a few kilometres from Amalfi, reachable along the road full of curves.
We will stop in Ravello, located on a hill in a panoramic position on the coast, to visit the two villas symbol of the Music City, so named because every year there is a famous Music Festival. Villa Cimbrone and Villa Rufolo are two ancient villas famous for their gardens and fantastic views of the Gulf. Famous people like Virginia Wolfe, T.S. Eliot, Winston Churchill, Greta Garbo and Al Gore have stayed in the first villa and in the second the composer Wagner composed one of his most famous works, the Parsifal.
Our excursion to the Amalfi Coast ends with the return at your port of departure, the port of Salerno, right on time to board your ship.
